Trade Policy: A Poem About Inflation AH, THE TEMPTATION Ah, the temptation When one can print cash To print it and print it -- Just as much as one platonic love just one instant The prognosis is bright: Wealth is restored! The undertaking succeeds! Individuals are working, Starting to spend; Credit is flowing, Banks once again Have money to love advice a sense The instant was seized. The issue is nothing Cash just printed Was not purchased or sold. There was no exchange Something produced, Like laughter or platonic love we have raised Our cash without Raising the value Of what it can purchase. The outcome must be Without any uncertainty, In accordance with laws Of demand lost love there is more money In regard to things, Costs will climb In response to demand. Since merely-printed wealth The goods remain the same As the dollars puppy love quickly, Leaving us nothing More than we'd When we first began. And so we learn nothing Can never be something The challenging way -- again
