David La'amea Kamanakapu'u Mahinulani Nalaiaehuokalani Lumialani Kalakaua or Kalakaua (born November 16, 1836; Honolulu - January 20, 1891; San Francisco) was the king of Hawaii. He ruled from 1874 to 1891. He ended the "Kamehameha Dynasty" by dethroning the widow of the previous king.
