Jean-Baprise LULLY
Jean-Baptiste Lully (born Florence, 28 November 1632; died Paris, 22 March 1687) was an Italian-born composer, violinist and ballet dancer. He spent almost all of his working life in France in the XIV. He spent his time as a musician at the court of Louis. He became a French citizen in 1661. He is known as the most famous French composer of his time. Lully realized at the beginning of his working life that the music and songs of the newly released Italian style opera were not very suitable for the French language, and he created a new type of opera that included songs more suitable for French. Thus, Lully is considered the father of the French opera style. Besides operas, Lully composed music for ballet and church music for liturgy. Lully's death from an infection following an interesting accident is also a remarkable part of his life.
