Genaro Espósito

Genaro EspósitoGenaro Ricardo Espósito (Buenos Aires, Argentina, February 17, 1886 – Paris, France, January 24, 1944), who was known as "El Tano Genaro", was a bandoneonist, guitarist, pianist, composer and conductor dedicated to the genre of tango.12He was born in the San Telmo neighborhood of Buenos Aires. He was the son of Italian immigrants from the suburbs of Naples who had a store and a beverage store in the neighborhood associated with Antonio Solari, one of the first to teach him, with whom Espósito learned to play the bandoneon by ear and, like Arturo Bernstein (The German) came to have a remarkable mastery of both hands. He also learned to play the piano and the guitar by ear, and his first academic musical knowledge only came in 1920 when he traveled to Europe. On the other hand, Espósito was the teacher, in turn, of the great bandoneonists Anselmo Aieta and Ricardo Brignolo.12
