Luis Casas Romero
Luis Casas Romero (Camagüey, May 24, 1882 - Havana, October 30, 1950) was a Cuban radio pioneer, composer, conductor and flutist.He was born in a house on Calle de los Pobres No. 95 (today Father Olallo No. 462), between Callejón Montero and Calle Tío Perico.In 1891 he began his music studies with the Spanish teacher Gregorio Cánova Macaró. In 1893 he joined the orchestra of the Santa Cecilia Popular Society, and in 1901, the Board of Trustees of the Children's Music Band; On June 5, 1904 he performed with the flutist Manuel Mateo and accompanied on piano by José Molina Torres, the concert duo Krakamp, opus 78, for flute, and ―as soloist― the Fantasy on Motifs from Giuseppe Verdi's Hernani opera.
