The Strokes is an American indie rock band from New York, consisting of Julian Casablancas, Nick Valensi, Albert Hammond Jr., Nikolai Fraiture and Fabrizio Moretti. After the release of their first EP, The Modern Age, in January 2001, a bidding war ensued between major labels to reach a deal with the band.
