Duong Thieu Tuoc
Duong Thieu Tuoc (May 15, 1915 – August 1, 1995) was a pre-war musician of Vietnamese new music.
Duong Thieu Tuoc was born on May 15, 1915, from Van Dinh village, Son Lang district, Ung Hoa district, Hanoi. Coming from a traditional Confucian family, he is the great-grandson of Van Dinh Duong Khue, former Doc studied Nam Dinh.
In the 1930s, Duong Thieu Tuoc joined a group of amateur artists Myosotis (Flower of Lace) including Tham Oanh, Le Yen, Vu Khanh... He was the one who had the initiative to compose "Western songs to our tunes", the His debut compositions are usually written in French. Although he studied Western music, his music still permeated the national soul. In a handwritten publication, he argued:
