Dinh Tram Ca's real name is Mac Phu, born in 1941 in Vinh Dien town, Dien Ban district, Quang Nam province. The pseudonym Dinh Tram Ca is taken from his mother's surname (Dinh), but today many people are still familiar with another name, Dinh Tram Ca. After finishing high school, he went to Saigon to study at the University of Pedagogy and graduated, teaching literature here until 1975.
