Jozsef Bloch
József Bloch (Buda, January 5, 1862 - Budapest, May 6, 1922) is a Hungarian violinist, music teacher and composer. He was a teacher of the first generation of the violin school under the auspices of the Academy of Music, one of the founding masters of Hungarian violin teaching. His first teachers were Alajos Gobbi, Károly Huber and Róbert Volkman
After his trip to Paris, in 1889 he became a member of the then world-famous Hubay-Popper string quartet, in which he was a chamber partner of Jenő Hubay between 1889 and 1992. In the same year, 1889, he began his violin teaching at the Academy of Music at about the same time as Jenő Hubay, first as an extraordinary teacher from 1889 and as an ordinary teacher from 1898. From 1890 to 1900 he was also a teacher of the National Music, and from 1904 he taught as the head of the violin teacher training at the Academy of Music. As a preparatory teacher for students at the Hubay Master School, he raised a whole generation of violinists.
