This piece is taken from the...(more) "Fitzwilliam Virginal Book", originally compiled in the late Elizabethan and early Jacobean periods in England, i.e., the late Renaissance and very early Baroque periods. This particular piece is by "Doctor" John Bull, and it is one of several that he wrote that are of a lighter and more whimsical nature. It was originally scored for the keyboard instruments of the day, e.g., virginal, clavichord, or harpsichord.
